SBF Needs You!

stupidboysfest needs you!

momebie and I sadly have no books from which we can rip prompts for Werewolves and Frankenstein Monsters/Robots. So, it’s up to you to help us come up with prompts!

Leave prompts here as comments and we’ll choose the 10 that most avail themselves to stupid boys prompts.

Prompts should be either similar to the heading of a chapter or section (Mental Combat with the Rising Vampire) or a sentence (As zombies know all too well, there's no reason to sprint, when slow and steady also wins the race.)

Please include in your comment whether you are submitting for Werewolves or Frankenstein Monsters/Robots.

Prompts will be accepted through Saturday, October 11.

Comments are screened to sustain the anticipation until we reveal the prompts during weeks 3 and 4 of the Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular! Ooh, I feel chills.

Continuing on with the Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular! we have chosen to attempt to shed some light on my personal favorite denizens of questionable taste: ZOMBIES! These prompts come from The Zen of Zombie: Better Living Through the Undead by Scott Kenemore, which is brilliant to have around if you've ever felt sluggish, put upon, or started to wonder what your compatriots would taste like with a little HP Sauce. (The answer to that, by the way, is excellent!)

You can reply to this post if you like and ask questions, but you don't have to. Just go through the prompts and see if one strikes your fancy and then create a fan work to share! (But please keep your brains to yourself.)

Remember: stupidboysfest is open to any fandom, any pairing, and any genre. Slash, gen, and het are welcome. Fics, art, and any other fan creations are encouraged!

There's no deadline for completing your fanwork, but we encourage that you post your fic to this community—either the full text or a link to your own journal/website—before the official end of the fest on October 31.

You can still use these prompts, too!

Remember: Stay quick on your feet, wear tight clothing, and under no circumstances, set a stupid boy zombie on fire!

We're getting the Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular! started with prompts for my favorite bloodsuckers, vampires. These prompts were taken from The Vampire Survival Guide by Scott Bowen (which I highly recommend you read if you're planning to fight against the undead).

Feel free to reply to this post as you wish, but you don't have to do any sort of claiming. Just read through the prompts, select your favorite (or favorites), and create fanworks for whichever stupid boys you like.

Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular!

The Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular (oh yes, I said "Spooktacular") is now live! Each week you'll see prompts for some of the most terrifying (and comical) monsters including, vampires, zombies, werewolves, and Frankenstein monsters. This time only a small portion of the prompts are from actual books, but we'll let you know from whence we've stolen our inspiration.

Just like the summer version, Stupid Boys Fest Spooktacular! is a festival to celebrate the stupid boys of fandom. The emphasis for this special October mini-fest is on monsters. The official dates of the fest are October 1 through October 31, but if you need to finish up your fics/art in November, we won't scold you for posting late.

stupidboysfest is open to any fandom, any pairing, and any genre. Slash, gen, and het are welcome (for those het entries, just remember you need at least two males in the fanworks).

State of the SBF!

Good afternoon Stupid Boys Fest contributors and watchers! It’s That Other Mod, here with the State of the Fest.

All together so far there have been 15 stories (counting collections of drabbles as one) posted in 10 fandoms. We’d like to say that even though we are not finished tagging everything, because other commitments have slowed us down, we appreciate all of the submissions and get a little bit more stoked every time we see one. We know we said that we wanted things posted by the first of September, but we’re not really standing very firmly on that date, as you may have noticed. So please, finish up those stories you started on a whim, start a new story if you’re inspired by an old prompt, and go ahead and share it with us. The internet needs more stupid boys. (As another note, we don’t want you to feel like once you’ve shared something with us it has to live here. Please, pimp your stories out to other communities and your flists. The more people who love your stuff, the more you’ll want to write of it! We here at SBF are kind of selfish that way. :p)

Now on to order of business number two! We enjoyed SBF and we hope you did as well, so we’re continuing on in the month of October with new prompts taken from different material that will be Halloween friendly. A mini-fest, if you will. We look forward to bringing you new bits of (hopefully) inspiration, and seeing what grows from them. If you would like to ask any questions, you may do so in the comments of this post, and we will do our best to answer them.

Thank you all very much for your participation as writers and readers, and we look forward to all of the stupid shenanigatin’ that will happen in the future.

Summary:: One way to repel an uninvited solicitor off your doorstep is to answer the door half-naked. That is, unless the solicitor is a friend of your parents. And doesn't know you're living in a den of sin with another man. Then it's maybe not as good an idea.
Acknowledgments: many thanks to momebie for beta'ing and hand-holding and also to both her and theemdash for hosting this lovely fest :D
